Thailand, where our love began…
Happy 6th Anniversary! Time flies! I can’t believe I married the most wonderful and generous man on earth for 6 years already! Cheers to many more years to come love of my life, Randall. My husband and I decided to have a vacation to celebrate our anniversary back in Thailand and share the happiness with family and friends.
We stayed in the heart of Bangkok for the first 5 nights, then off to the world famous island Phuket for 4 nights, back to Bangkok for a night, off to Cambodia to visit the Unesco World Heritage Site Angkor Wat to visit several temples dating back 900 years, flew back to Bangkok again for the last 3 nights and then we headed back to the States.
For some of my American friends who haven’t been to or heard about Thailand... to be honest, I can’t imagine anyone who hasn’t heard about Thailand but just in case. Here’s an intro;
Thailand is a Southeast Asian country. It's known for tropical beaches, opulent royal palaces, ancient ruins and ornate temples displaying figures of Buddha and the best foot massages in the world. Bangkok is the capital, an ultramodern cityscape rising next to quiet canal-side communities and the iconic temples of Wat Arun, Wat Pho and the Emerald Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Kaew). Not to boast about the world famous Thai food but now we’re talking the authentic Thai food that has 5 main tastes, which you may meet in almost every dish. These are: sour lime, savory fish sauce, hot chilli, salt and sweetness (usually added by palm trees). To all shoppers, there’s a lot of shopping malls literally on every corner from luxury brand names to multi chains, and the amazing local artisans always draw the attention of all foreigners. To be fair, I'm not going to write only about all the wonderful things because there's also unimpressive parts like the traffic which is way too horrible in Bangkok with rude Taxi’s drivers. Luckily, the modern and clean BTS Sky Train and the MRT are very convenient transportation to travel around the city or else click the app UBER or GRAB that would work and be a smart choice as well.
Where to stay in Bangkok? There’s so many gorgeous 5 star hotels with tremendous services like you could never imagine. This trip we stayed at the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel located in the heart of the Bangkok metropolitan area and they provided fabulous services, a top-notch Spa, great gym equipment, and a great facility. But the most impressive of all is to stay at The Surin Phuket in the South of Thailand. The Phuket trip was truly our relaxation period in Thailand. We enjoyed the beach activities on the crystal clear water, the staff at The Surin Phuket is OVER THE TOP, the Spa is phenomenal, the ambience and everything at the hotel is unbelievably spectacular. We met new friends, a lovely couple from London which made our trip more interesting. Thank you to all the staff at The Surin Phuket for treating us like royalty! Well deserved to be the no.1 Luxury Resort in South-East Asia. We really enjoyed every minute.
4/12/17, A visit to Cambodia’s World Heritage Temples of Angkor complex, voted by Lonely Planet as the world's number 1 sight. It’s truly a once in a lifetime experience! How to get there? we flew from Bangkok to Siem Reap, Cambodia for an hour flight. The U.S. Passport holder requires a Visa to entry the country but no worries you can apply for your Visa on arrival at the Siem Reap Airport for only a $7 fee! We hurried to check in at the Miracle Angkor Resort and Spa and had some excursions to explore the famous sights like tourists do such as Angkor Wat, The Bayon, Ta Prom etc. Angkor is one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia. Stretching over some 400 km2, including forested area, Angkor Archaeological Park contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th century. They include the famous Temple of Angkor Wat and, at Angkor Thom, the Bayon Temple with its countless sculptural decorations. UNESCO has set up a wide-ranging program to safeguard this symbolic site and its surroundings. It was warm and soaking wet (Thank goodness to my friend who joined us on the trip for bringing the handy fan, it was a big help!) while we were strolling but well worth it.
It was an unbelievably amazing trip back to my hometown Bangkok city, Thailand to have a special bonding time with my father that was priceless, a wonderful reunion with good-hearted friends, and to visit the amazing Angkor complex in Siem Reap, Cambodia where I was in awe by all the intricate work. I'm feeling grateful for all the opportunities to see the world. To Travel the world far and wide is my passion, of course!.
****Stay tuned to my upcoming overseas next ;)****
