Hawaii, a state of the USA in the South Pacific Ocean with a bunch of islands like The Big Island, Maui, Kauai, Oahu, Nihau, Lanai, Molokai. We celebrated our 3rd anniversary with a week in Kauai. Why Kauai? Kauai is Hawaii's Garden Isle, known for its lush foliage, beautiful flowers and long white sand beaches. Kauai is the oldest & rainiest of the main Hawaiian Islands and yet still feels like the iconic Hawaii of an island fantasy and stole our hearts. It's the perfect island for a honeymoon or romantic getaway so we celebrated our 3rd anniversary in Kauai.
Flew from Phoenix direct to Honolulu and then Kauai. I have to say landing in Honolulu was very pleasant with a view of Diamond head, Pearl Harbor, and Waikiki. Late afternoon, we arrived at Lihue airport (Kauai), rented a car, checked-in at the Marriott Courtyard, toasted a drink and had a fabulous dinner with a salmon colored sunset, just a perfect way to end our first night on the island.
Woke up in the morning. Had a nice coffee & breakfast at the hotel with an ocean view while the wind blew through the Palm trees and actually chilled me. We looked at the map and decided to stroll around the Northern part of the island in Princeville, and the famous scenic Wailua Falls, Hanalei town, Kilauea point, and the hightlight of the trip The Napali coast, an enchanted rugged mountain coastline. We made it all in one day except Napali because you have to hike to see this beautiful mother nature. My bad was I didn't prepare my shoes well enough for mud, sorry hon, but, hey! They do have boat tours to see the perspective of Napali coast from the ocean. We've heard from the people there who said that you won't be able to see the complete emerald peaks of Napali coast unless on a boat trip or a helicopter. We booked a one day boat tour trip to The Napali instead of helicopter for a better photo opportunity. Here we come!
From Port Allen, we sailed on a Catamaran. We were lucky enough to see whales. Honopu Valley, Napali Coast, Kauai is the most famous for its apperance in movies such as Jurassic Park, Jurassic World (the upcoming film), Pirates of the Caribbean, The Descendants, and so many... also including a TV hit series "Lost". Husband & I were in awe by the view. We were speechless & really appreciated these outstanding gorgeous emerald peaks of the mountains from the ocean. We took so many great photos and I started to feel dizzy from the sea, but when camera was on I happily posed with a smiley face. It was about time to go back to the land and I reached the point of serious seasickness since the waves were getting big on the way back. I just couldn't appreciate the view anymore or any more activities so I let my husband toast a drink with our captain to end the trip with a sunset view on the ocean instead. Goodbye to the Napali Coast.
We drove to South shore Poipu beach to watch surfers ride the waves and the big waves crash on the lava rocks. We also visited the charming historic small towns Hanapepe, Koloa. Since it was my first time visited Hawaii so my husband took me to watch a traditional Hula dancers and Polynesian fire dancers at Tropical Smith Garden. Next day, we took a day off with no activities but just to enjoy the sea, sand, and sun at the resort. And I realized that Kauai is the home of roosters. I don't know but I see them everywhere and I mean everywhere.
Well, the vacation came to an end. We had world class dining at Kauai Grill at the St.Regis in Princeville on our last day to finish our trip. Then we flew first class United Airlines back to our exquisite sweet home. It was such a worthwhile and a romantic trip! HAPPY 3 YEARS ANNIVERSARY! I love you my wonderful husband.
